Wish of a Lifetime from AARP and the Vital Life Foundation have teamed up to create the Journey of Heroes, a program which honors senior veterans with a visit to Washington, D.C. to see the national memorials that were created in honor of their service and sacrifices. Wish of a Lifetime from AARP and the Vital Life Foundation are acutely aware of the imminent passing of a generation of heroes and are committed to fulfilling their Wishes before it is too late.
According to the US Department of Veterans Affairs statistics, 66,146 of the 16.4 million Americans who served in World War II are alive as of 2024.
The trip of a lifetime includes:
• 4-day all-inclusive experience to visit the war memorials in Washington, D.C.
• Travel, walking and bus tours, meals, accommodations included
•Each veteran will be accompanied by a companion* for the purpose of meeting the seniors’ needs.
• Trip is prioritized for WWII veterans, followed by Korean and Vietnam War veterans (veteran applicants must be of 65+years of age.)
* Veteran and companion’s trip are paid for in partnership of Wish of a Lifetime from AARP and the Vital Life Foundation
